I had a great time reading Taken. You are plunged directly into the mafia world, and I found the author’s writing style really fluid: the pages turn very easily. 💚
A world and a found family that make all the difference
I particularly liked the whole "found family" aspect, which I found to be well-developed. The bonds between the characters really add something to the story. That is what I remember most from this read, along with its world: this found family completely won me over.
Cole and Ruby: I would have liked more
I also liked the relationship between Cole and Ruby, even if I would have liked it to be a little more in-depth. Specifically, I would have liked to learn more about their pasts, their traumas, and everything that shaped them before they met.
Who I would recommend this to
For me, Taken is a very good read if you want to discover dark romance or start with a story that I found quite accessible within the genre. My opinion remains primarily defined by the atmosphere and the bonds between the characters.
And what about you? Is "found family" something you also like to find in your reads?
