Liz Tomforde will never disappoint me. I LOVED this read! I was so eager to discover Hallie and Rio’s story… and, at the same time, I really didn’t want to read this book, because it meant leaving this universe and this group of friends I’ve become way too attached to. 🤍
A story between past and present
What I loved most was the alternating between the past and the present. We discover little by little what Hallie and Rio went through, how their relationship evolved over the years, and what led them to where they are today.
A few details about their story — open if you want to know more
Hallie and Rio have known each other since they were very young. They were best friends first before their relationship evolved and they got together. But, a few years later, we find them separated.
I found it so touching to see them grow up together. As we progress, we understand their choices more and what they represent to each other. Rio's story touched me enormously: we discover another side of this character I already liked a lot in the previous books.
This found family I love so much
Each book in this series has managed to touch me in its own way. But my favorite thing, I think, is really this found family: this family of the heart that makes the whole series so endearing.
Hallie and Rio both touched me. Their story is beautiful and filled with love. I’m finishing this read with a huge tug at my heart… even if I still have the book about Zanders left!
My verdict
Windy City will clearly remain one of my favorite series, along with the Boys of Tommen, of course! If you like stories that take the time to reveal the characters' pasts and groups you get way too attached to, I can only invite you to discover this universe.
And you, have you already met Hallie and Rio?
